The Pirates started brightly but went after 16 minutes when Joe Snowdon fired a powerful, first-time effort from distance through a crowd and into the bottom left corner.
The Robins, led by former Rovers man Ian Holloway, scored again just before the half-hour mark. Finley Munroe's near-post corner was met by Ollie Clarke, who flicked a header across the goal and into the back of the net. The visitors had all the momentum and netted again moments later with Aaron Drinan curling his attempt past the goalkeeper.
The score remained at 3-0, but both teams were reduced to ten men. First, Kacper Lopata was shown a straight red card for a lunging tackle on Gavin Kilkenny before Drinan was given a second yellow card for simulation in the Pirates' box.
