Bristol Rovers delivered a statement performance at the Memorial Stadium, firing ten goals past Worthing, producing three hat-tricks, and sealing their tenth clean sheet of the season in a breathtaking display.
After a 15-minute delay, the match finally got underway, with Bristol Rovers immediately asserting themselves. The hosts dominated possession from the off, pressing high and pushing forward with intent.
After scoring last week’s winning goal, Amelie Gould was in the starting line-up and made an immediate impact, testing the Worthing defence with two early shots on target, both narrowly going wide. Persistence soon paid off when a cross from Ruby Schaill found Gould, who controlled the ball down the wing before cutting inside and firing a strike just beyond the goalkeeper’s fingertips with a clinical finish.
Rovers took an early lead and continued to push for more, maintaining the pressure on the Worthing defence. Just five minutes later, Gould took on the back line once again, showing excellent control before unleashing another effort that bounced off the goalkeeper’s hands and into the back of the net, securing her second goal and doubling the lead in the opening stages.
With the Gas looking increasingly dominant and most of the action taking place in the Worthing half, a corner found Annys Turner, whose effort narrowly drifted wide. Chances continued to flood in soon after, with Charlotte Buxton unleashing a powerful long-range strike, only for the Worthing goalkeeper to palm the ball away.
However, it wasn’t long before another player joined the scoresheet. Chloe Bassett showed strength and composure, battling shoulder to shoulder with the Worthing defence before sliding the ball into the corner to make it 3–0 to the Gas. The excitement for Bassett didn’t end there, as within minutes she grabbed her second. An assist from Gould left Bassett perfectly placed to tap the ball past the goalkeeper, extending Rovers’ lead to four.
As the exciting first half ended, the Gas girls continued to push for more chances. With five minutes remaining before the whistle, Rovers earned themselves a corner, but the effort was blocked in defence. The Gas, however, remained on the front foot, and after an outstanding display, the half-time whistle blew with the scoreline reading 4–0.
The second half got underway with the Gas girls firmly in control, looking determined to carry the same intensity into the next 45 minutes. And what a start it was - new signing Chloe Snook drilled the ball into the back of the net to score her very first goal for the Gas.
Moments later, Gould and Bassett linked up perfectly once again. Gould delivered a low cross, and Bassett tapped it into the net to complete her hat-trick.
Following this, Rovers made their first substitution of the game, with Nia Rees coming off for Maisy Collis. Shortly after her hat-trick, Bassett turned provider, setting up Snook for her second goal. Following a mix-up at the back, Bassett gained possession in the box and squared the ball to Snook, who calmly finished to make it an outstanding 7–0.
The goals didn’t stop at seven, as Rovers’ number 15, Charlotte Buxton, added another within minutes. From the edge of the box, Buxton powered a shot that was too strong for the goalkeeper to stop, soaring just over her fingertips into the net.
The Gas were on fire, pressing relentlessly, scoring goals, and remaining solid at the back to keep another clean sheet. Scahill was replaced by Ella Pemberton, while after an outstanding personal display, Bassett came off to be replaced by Heléna Costa for her Rovers debut.
The substitutes made an immediate impact. Pemberton provided a perfect assist for Gould, who became the second player of the game to complete a hat-trick. Gould’s third came from a stunning strike outside the box, bringing the score to 9–0. In the previous Worthing game, Gould had come off the bench to score the ninth and final goal in stoppage time, but this time she was not the last to find the net.
After a scramble in the box, Snook struck, becoming the third player to complete a hat-trick and bringing the final scoreline to an incredible 10–0.
The final whistle blew, and the Gas girls sent a loud message to the rest of the league with their intentions for the season ahead. With the first 10–0 scoreline in the National League, a trio of hat-tricks, and a tenth clean sheet, the Gas girls continued an excellent start to 2026.
