Michael Cheek twice went close, with a close-range effort and a header pushed away by the shot-stopper before the Gas gained a quick-fire two-goal lead.
Fabrizio Cavegn headed in Luke Thomas' cross before playing the ball across to Joel Cotterill for Rovers' second goal, with Jemiah Umolu's late finish for the hosts proving to be only a consolation.
