Away trips do not get much longer for Bristol Rovers than their Tuesday night travel to Barrow, but after a positive result on the road, Fabrizio Cavegn is ready for another tough test when the Gas face Bromley.
Cavegn returned to the starting side against the Bluebirds for the first time since the Pirates lost 2-0 to Oldham Athletic and made his mark on the game, netting the second goal in the Gas' victory after getting onto the end of Joel Senior's clever pass.
Rovers' professional performance ensured their third victory in four matches, with wins against Grimsby Town and Crewe Alexandra coming on either side of a draw with Swindon Town, with Cavegn hoping they can build on their recent performance.
"I’m not really tired," he said. "We had days off to recover, and I did the recovery at home. I chilled, and I’m ready for tomorrow. "We played well, and it was a great performance from the team. We fought from the beginning until the end, and I think it was one of the games that was a great performance, and we can build on it."
What a first season in English football it has been for Cavegn. The striker, signed from FC Vaduz in August 2025 for an undisclosed fee, admitted it took him some time to settle in, but he is now on 15 goals for the campaign across all competitions.
Bristol now feels like home to the forward, who continues to build in confidence.
"When I can score, I’m happy every time," he said. "I scored and helped the team win the game, and it was my 15th goal. I look back on it, and I want to continue.
"It feels like home here in Bristol, here at the training ground, the stadium and with the fans. It feels like home, and I’m happy here. The first month was a little bit tough to settle in and play football in the UK, but now everything is fine, and I can play with more confidence."
Cavegn has already played with several strikers during his time at the Gas, with his latest partner up front being Joe Quigley. They both offer different threats, with the 23-year-old suggesting their individual qualities work well together.
"We are two players where there is a big difference," said Cavegn. "He is taller, and the player that can hold onto the ball, and I’m the player that can go behind with my speed, and this works together with two strikers. He does a lot of work for the team and me as well up front. It’s the right way to play and score goals."
The next test for the Pirates is Bromley, whom Cavegn has had success against this season. Away in the Emirates FA Cup, the striker used his instincts to latch onto Luke Thomas' cross to score the first header of his career before hitting the back of the net in their meeting at The Mem, driving a clever effort into the bottom corner.
Bromley are at the top of Sky Bet League Two and are unbeaten in the fourth tier at home this season, but Cavegn is ready for the test.
"I’m looking forward to it," said the striker. "They are at the top of the league, and I said to myself, ‘we need to go there and play our game and want to hurt them’. Last time I scored against Bromley at home, and I can take confidence. As a striker, if you score and you know the team that you play against, then you are ready.
"We have a lot of games in the coming weeks and until the end of the season. We’re doing everything to win every game."
