Born in July 1927, Geoff Bradford is, perhaps, the most famous player ever to don the blue-and-white quarters and remains the only player to represent England whilst on the club’s books.
His one and only appearance for his country came 70 years ago today (October 2) when he scored in a 5-1 England victory in Denmark.
He scored 242 goals for Rovers in 461 league appearances and was top scorer in five different seasons, and scored 11 league hat-tricks.
As well as winning a full England cap, Geoff toured the West Indies in 1955 with the English FA and won several other representative honours during his career.
Had it not been for two serious leg injuries, sustained in the 1950s, he would surely have enjoyed an even more successful career. He was granted a testimonial match by Rovers against an International XI on 27th April 1964.
Geoff passed away on December 30 1994, at the age of 67.
