Bristol Rovers is delighted to confirm the season-long loan signing of Alfie Chang from Sky Bet Championship side Birmingham City.
The Club also retain the option to make the move permanent in the future.
Midfielder Chang is the fourteenth new player to move to The Memorial Stadium in the summer transfer window.
"I'm really pleased and really happy to be here,” the 22-year-old said. “I've heard a lot of great things and I can't wait to get started.
"It's been a chaotic day, but now that I'm here, I'm glad it's happened. I've heard a lot of great things about the people and about the Club.
"I can't wait to play in front of the fans and get started. It's a great fanbase. I've heard a lot of great things. I can't wait to put the shirt on and fight for the badge.”
Head Coach Darrell Clarke said: “Alfie is a talented and composed midfielder who has impressed during his young career so far, and he will bring more quality and competition to our midfield.
“The coaches and I are happy to welcome him to Rovers and we’re looking forward to working with him.”
Director Of Football Ricky Martin said: “Alfie is someone I’ve monitored personally for several years, and I am excited and pleased to welcome him to the Club.
“He is a dynamic and combative centre midfielder who will create significant competition in our midfield. I am looking forward to seeing his progression and development at The Mem in the coming season.”
Born in Worchester, Chang joined the Birmingham City Academy as an Under-10s and progressed through the youth set-up before putting pen-to-paper on his scholarship agreement in 2019 and his first professional contract in 2021.

The midfielder made his senior debut for the Blues, coming off the bench in a Carabao Cup defeat to Fulham in August 2021, and made his first competitive start in the same competition a year later – a first-round defeat to Norwich City.
Chang’s first appearance in league football was a start in the Sky Bet Championship away to Cardiff City in August 2022, with the midfielder going on to make 13 league appearances that campaign, of which seven were starts.
A knee injury, sustained in August 2023, ruled Chang out of action for a significant period with the midfielder returning for Birmingham City in an FA Cup fixture against Lincoln City in January 2025.
A loan to Sky Bet League Two side Walsall followed for Chang for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign, where he made eight appearances in all competitions, including scoring his first goal in senior football in the first leg of the play-off semi-finals away to Chesterfield.
Everyone at Rovers warmly welcomes Alfie to the Club and wishes him every success during his time in the blue and white quarters.
