Bristol Rovers pays tribute to John Green

JG

Bristol Rovers Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of John Green.

John, a lifelong Bristol Rovers supporter, lent his name, time and energy to the Club for ‘The John Green Campaign’ – an initiative designed to seek awareness of and encourage open, honest conversations about prostate cancer.

John was diagnosed with prostate cancer in early 2024 and sought to raise the understanding of the risks and symptoms associated with the disease.

His efforts led to the creation of the campaign named in his honour; one which directly led to a significant number of men in the local community and beyond booking and undergoing the relevant tests for prostate cancer.

Put simply, The John Green Campaign and John’s selfless work has saved lives.

His dedication and work will never be forgotten by anyone associated with Bristol Rovers Football Club.

In tribute to John, the Club will continue to run The John Green Campaign at a dedicated home matchday each season henceforth, ensuring his hard work in raising awareness of the risks around prostate cancer is never forgotten.

Everyone at Bristol Rovers will miss John and would like to once again share our deepest thanks to him for his work on The John Green Campaign. We join supporters in sending our condolences to John’s family and friends at this very sad time.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in the UK, with more than 64,000 people diagnosed each year. For more information on symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and PSA tests, please follow the link here.
