Evans Shirt Boosts Charity

8 July 2022

Bristol Rovers were delighted to raise more than £550 for Bristol Rovers Talk Club by raffling a signed Antony Evans shirt. The shirt was worn in Rovers' 1-1 draw at Colchester in last season's promotion-winning campaign.

Talk Club, a mental health charity, is part of a behaviour-changing movement aimed at getting men to talk more openly about their thoughts, feelings and worries.

Spokesman Jack Newcombe said:

"We are absolutely delighted that the Club is financially backing us to get more men mentally fit. Not only are we supported with the use of The Memorial Stadium facilities to host our weekly Thursday night sessions, but this financial boost will ensure we can support more men – whether they're an 8 out of 10 wanting to become a 9 out of 10, or if they’re a 4 out of 10 wanting to boost this to a 4.5, and then beyond!

"This donation will coincide with more significant publicity of Talk Club Bristol Rovers’ work, so keep your eyes peeled for more from us.

"If you want to help straight away, ask yourself “How are you, out of 10?” and then ask a mate the same.

Up the Gas and Up the Talk Club!"

Talk Club want to create as many safe and confidential spaces where men can meet regularly to talk, and listen to each other. Founded in Bristol, Talk Club aim to encourage and support men across the globe.

The groups are relaxed, informal and non-judgemental – a place where men can simply go in and get off their chest what’s been happening in their week.

There is a thriving, online private, men-only Facebook group. Find out more at WeTalkClub.com
