Clinton Mola joined Bristol Rovers on an three-year deal, with the option of a further year, from Reading in June 2024.
Born in Camden, Mola joined the Chelsea FC Academy as a teenager and played for the Blues youth set-up until January 2020, when he signed for then-German second division side VfB Stuttgart.
Mola made his debut for Stuttgart in a DFB-Pokal Cup against Bayer 04 Leverkusen and played eight league matches, helping the side return to the Bundesliga at the first attempt. Mola made his Bundesliga debut against Hoffenheim in October 2021.
Mola would join EFL Championship side Blackburn Rovers on loan for the 2022/23 season, making six appearances in all competitions for Rovers and helping the side to a seventh-placed finish in the league, as well as a Carabao Cup third-round win away to Premier League side West Ham United.
The 23-year-old then joined Reading on a one-year deal last summer, making 35 appearances in all competitions for the Royals including 30 in EFL League One. On the international scene, Mola captained England at U19s level and most recently represented the Three Lions’ U21s versus Georgia in November 2021.
Mola moved to the Gas ahead of the 2024/25 season and made his debut in the Gas' 1-0 victory over Northampton Town on the opening day of the season. He played 37 times across all competitions in his first campaign at Rovers, with his only goal coming in a 3-1 away victory over Burton Albion.
The former Chelsea man was in and out of the Rovers team for the early parts of the following campaign before starting consistently under Steve Evans, who mainly utilised him as a midfielder. Mola played 39 times overall, with 32 of his games coming in Sky Bet League Two.
