Luke Southwood joined Bristol Rovers from Bolton Wanderers, securing a two-year contract with the Club.
Southwood began his professional journey in the Reading Academy. The goalkeeper had loan spells with Bath City, Eastleigh, and Hamilton Academical before making his senior debut for Reading in a 3-1 Carabao Cup win over Colchester United in September 2020.
His first league appearance for Reading was in a 2021 Sky Bet Championship match, a home draw against Huddersfield Town, during which Southwood quickly became a first-choice goalkeeper for the Royals in the 2021/22 season.
Southwood joined Cheltenham Town on a season-long deal July 2023. During that time, he kept sixteen clean sheets in Sky Bet League One. He earned himself a full-time deal with the Robins in the 2023/24 season.
The goalkeeper signed for Bolton in June 2024, having departed Cheltenham following their relegation. He made 26 appearances for the Trotters in all competitions last campaign, including 20 in League One.
At the international level, Southwood represented England at U19S and U20S, helping the young Lions win the U20S World Cup in 2017.
In 2021, Southwood opted to represent Northern Ireland at senior international level and was called into the squad for the first time. He debuted in a 3-1 win over Luxembourg in March 2022.
