Tom James was delighted with his and the team’s performance as Bristol Rovers ran out 2-0 victors at the Broadfield Stadium against Crawley Town.
First-half goals from the man himself from a brilliant free kick and a clever touch and finish from Bobby Kamwa put the Gas into a dominant position early in the fixture.
Crawley looked for a way back into the game, but it was a stellar defensive performance from every Gas player at the back and Rovers held on rather comfortably to a 2-0 win in Sussex.

REFLECTIONS ON THE GAME
“It was good. It was good. I think we spoke earlier in the week about how we want to defend better as a team. I think we showed that for the majority of it today.
“A very good, professional away performance, and everyone's happy with the three points.”
HIS GOAL
“Yeah, I mean, I'll always back myself in those areas. It's been a little while since I scored one, so yeah, happy that Tommy let me have it to start with. I thought I might have to have a little fight with him. But yeah, happy to do it and happy to get two goals and a comfortable win in the end.
“I knew I had a chance. When it hit the bar, I had a little wobble. But yeah, it went in, so good news.”
KAMWA’S GOAL
“Yeah, I mean, that's what he can do. I think it was Kofi who played him in, which is a good ball. Again, it's something that we work on—playing forward, running forward—and when our attackers get it in and around the box, they're pretty deadly.”
WHAT COULD BE IMPROVED
“To be fair to them, especially in that first half, they defended really well around the box. They made some good blocks, but on another day that can squirm in for us.
“But you can't really complain, we were two‑nil away from home.”
DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE
“Yeah, very good. Like I said, we spoke about it, we worked on it. It's not just a back‑four, back‑five thing.
“The work the front boys and midfield do helps us out massively. So yeah, a really good team performance.”
RELATIONSHIP WITH BEN PURRINGTON
“I think in many ways we're quite similar people and players, so I think that helps.
“And obviously we're still new to the club, so we're still creating bonds more and more, and I think you're seeing that every game now.”
TRAVELLING FANS
“Unreal. I think something I'm going to have to get used to is how good the fans are here and yeah, no change today.”

“Yeah, definitely. That'll be the aim. We want to go and get another win against them. I think if we put in a performance like that, work as hard as we have today, we'll be in a good place.”
