Meet the Officials | Gillingham (A)

 Charles Breakspear

Charles Breakspear will be the man in the middle for Bristol Rovers' trip to Gillingham in Sky Bet League Two on Saturday.

The experienced referee has officiated the Gas 20 times across his career, with his first Pirates match coming back in the 2013/14 Sky Bet League Two season, where Rovers drew 2-2 with Hartlepool United at The Memorial Stadium. However, he has not refereed a Gas game this season, with his last coming towards the start of the last campaign, where Rovers lost 2-0 to Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup.

In comparison, Breakspear has refereed 24 Gillingham fixtures, with the official only overseeing more Cambridge fixtures across his career than the Gills (26). His last fixture with Gillingham also came last term, where they drew 1-1 with Accrington Stanley on the road.

Breakspear has officiated 459 matches across his professional career, appearing 173 times in Sky Bet League One, more than any other competition. This season, he has refereed 20 matches across six competitions, with his previous outing being in a 3-2 win for Southend United against Rochdale in the National League earlier this week.

He will be accompanied by Ross Murphy and Stuart Butler as Assistant Referees and Christopher Myatt, who will be the Fourth Official.
