PREVIEW

Crewe Alexandra v Bristol Rovers
Sky Bet League Two, The Mornflake Stadium, Saturday 3 October 2026, 3pm KO

Bristol Rovers will want to make it back-to-back wins in Sky Bet League Two when they travel to Crewe Alexandra on Saturday afternoon.

The Pirates made history in their previous outing. The Gas knew an 11th straight home league triumph would be a club record, and after a goalless first half, Fabrizio Cavegn's acrobatic effort just past the hour mark secured all three points.

Rovers are now back on their travels and will be hoping to improve their away results after losing their last two, 2-0 to Grimsby Town and 3-0 to Gillingham.

As for Crewe, they are ninth in Sky Bet League Two and drew 1-1 away at Rotherham United in their previous match, going ahead through an own goal from Dominic Iorfa before Paul Millin levelled for the Millers.

Opposition...

Crewe are one of three teams still unbeaten in the fourth tier this season and will be looking to push for a promotion spot this term, but six straight draws (just four behind their entire total last term) have them in ninth position.

The Railwaymen claimed back-to-back 1-0 wins over Crawley Town and Northampton Town to get off to a bright start, but a goalless outing with Port Vale was the first of six draws, three off an English Football League record, with three teams having achieved eight before.

They came from behind to get a point against Walsall and Colchester United, netting in second-half stoppage time on both occasions, but gave up leads against York City, Shrewsbury Town and Rotherham.

In terms of transfers, Zac Williams, Max Sanders and James Connolly departed for Barnet, Notts County and Walsall, respectively, with the Railwaymen having a quieter window than most in the league.

They added two players from Sky Bet League One on permanent deals, with defender Luke Offord and midfielder Jordan Gibson coming in from MK Dons and Doncaster Rovers, respectively, while Charlie McNeill moved in on loan from Sheffield Wednesday.

Lee Bell also added Joe White on a permanent deal from Newcastle United, with Celtic's Kyle Ure and Brentford's Josh Stephenson joining on loan.

Previous Meetings...

When Steve Evans was appointed Bristol Rovers' Head Coach in December 2025, his first challenge was an away trip to Crewe. After falling behind to Emre Tezgel's goal, Callum Morton struck the leveller to help the Gas to a point, ending a ten-game losing run in the fourth tier.

The Pirates are unbeaten in their last three outings against Crewe across all competitions, beating the Railwaymen 2-1 in their previous battle thanks to a late brace from Tommy Leigh at The Mem, but are winless in the league away at their upcoming opponents since March 1996.

However, Rovers beat Crewe at the Mornflake Stadium in the Emirates FA Cup in December 2023, with John Marquis, James Wilson, Antony Evans and an own goal helping the Gas to a 4-2 win in the second round.
