Bristol Rovers Women remain on the road this weekend as they take on Wycombe Wanderers back in league action.
Last weekend, the Gas Girls fought valiantly against tier three outfit Exeter City, but were ultimately defeated 4-3 in a thrilling encounter at the County Ground as the hosts moved top of the WNL Cup Group B.
Exeter were on their game in the early exchanges and raced to a three-goal lead inside 30 minutes, with Helena Costa then pulling one back for Rovers before half time. The Grecians grabbed their fourth on 75 minutes, and despite late goals from Jodie Exley and Annys Turner, held on for the win.
Rovers’ last league fixture was now a fortnight ago, ending in disappointment with defeat to Maidenhead United with the visitors putting up a stubborn defence.
With a fresh opportunity to claim three points, the Gas Girls will be looking to return to winning ways this Sunday.

Wycombe Wanderers Women - also known as W3, are one of the new faces to the WNL this season, having won the Southern Regional Women’s Football League (SRWFL) title in April.
And in spite of the step up in level, the Chairgirls have matched the standard and currently occupy third place after an unbeaten start to the season.
In their opener, Megan Arnott’s second-half goal was enough for three points as Wycombe beat Torquay United at home. W3 kept the momentum going on their travels too: this time, goals from Mimi Hodges and Natalia Makowska either side of the break saw off Keynsham Town - the opposition Rovers saw off 4-2 in the first round of cup action.
On the same night, Chelsea U21 put six past the Chairgirls to no reply, giving the hosts their first taste of defeat. They quickly bounced back though, beating Bournemouth Sports 3-2 with Hodges, Jess Watkins, and an own goal earning them the points on the road.
Most recently, Mia Delaney’s 87th-minute goal gave some positivity to an afternoon where W3 shipped four to Maidenhead - but it couldn’t help her new side put some points on the board in their cup campaign.
Wycombe now have back-to-back home games against Rovers and Gwalia United, aiming to continue their strong league form.
