Bristol Rovers Women will look to build on last week’s win in the WNL Cup when they take on Tier Three side Exeter City this Sunday.
The Gas Girls began their cup campaign in perfect fashion, convincingly seeing off Keynsham Town 4-2 last Thursday at Oaklands Park Stadium to go top of Group B.
Bella Tweddle put her side into an early lead as she nodded in in the 14th minute, going on to grab her second of the night around 20 minutes later. Gipsy Viveash converted the penalty she won to put Rovers 3-1 up at the break, before Lashai Mcnama rounded off the scoring by finishing from close range.
Back in league action last weekend, Rovers failed to make it three wins in eight days as Maidenhead United claimed the points. Quickfire first half goals from Izzy Stockton and Kaite Akerman were enough for the Ravens in a game that lacked much standout quality.
Now, the Gas Girls return to cup action and aim to put themselves in a stronger position in the group.

Under Abbie Britton, Exeter have enjoyed a solid start to their Southern Premier league campaign, currently sitting in 5th spot after one win, one draw, and one defeat.
The Grecians got off to a tricky start, however, with a 4-0 loss at home to Oxford United – who currently sit top of the division. Next up was a trip to Hashtag United, and again Exeter went behind, but this time secured their first point of the season through Nia Lewis’ spectacular free kick.
In their WNL Cup opener, Phoebe Baker and Amber Pollock were both on the scoresheet before the break against Bristol City PGA, with the Grecians 2-1 up. A busy start to the second half followed, seeing Ellie Sara and Emily Pitman fire home as the home side quickly found themselves 4-3 to the good.
Exeter held out for that scoreline in the thrilling tie, putting themselves below Rovers in Group B on goal difference. Most recently, Britton’s side saw off Lewes 3-1 thanks to a Sara hat-trick, giving them three wins on the bounce and plenty of confidence this weekend.
