Bristol Rovers vs Ascot United | FA Women’s National League, South West Interiors Stadium, Sunday 8th November, 14:00 KO
Bristol Rovers Women return to league action this weekend when they take on Ascot United, who currently sit bottom of the division on zero points.
Last week, the Gas twice played Gwalia United, claiming a solid midweek point on the road thanks to Ruby Scahill’s added-time leveller, before bowing out of the FAWNL Plate as the Welsh side beat a rotated Rovers 2-1.
Prior to that, Abingdon United were twice beaten by the Gas in the space of as many weeks, with the latest 6-0 win setting up an away tie against Moneyfields in the second round of the FA Cup on November 15.
In between the pair of victories, however, was a disappointing 3-2 home defeat to Keynsham Town, meaning Rovers will be looking for a strong win over Ascot this weekend to keep the pressure on Gwalia for fourth spot in the league table.

Opposition…
Ascot have endured an unfortunate 2026/27 season, and already look destined for the drop after failing to pick up a league point so far, while equally letting in an enormous 73 goals in 12 games across all competitions – twice conceding double figures.
The campaign began with three consecutive 6-0 defeats at the hands of Gwalia, Torquay United, and Bridgewater United. September didn’t start any better, with the Yellas losing 4-0 to Queens Park Rangers in the FAWNL Cup, before a 13-1 drubbing to Actonians in the same competition – Lauren Knight scoring their first goal of the season in the 80th minute.
Back in the league, Ascot took the lead in the third minute through Emma Goodwin against Bournemouth Sports, but went on to lose 4-2 after a busy period saw five goals in 12 minutes before the break – Monica Ferreira scoring the second for the hosts. Defeats against Keynsham and Fulham followed: 4-0 in the league and 10-0 in the cup, respectively.
Ascot began October with well-known opposition, facing Actonians for the second time in cup competitions – this time in the final round of FA Cup qualifying. Sadly for them, it was a familiar outcome, albeit with lighter damage, crashing out with a 7-0 loss.
Without any further cup action for them, the Yellas only played another three games in October and are yet to play in November. Wycombe Wanderers won 6-0 at the Racecourse Ground on October 11, while Abingdon could only manage two as Jocelyn Earl gave Ascot their fourth goal of the season a week later.
Earl then also scored in the most recent game on October 25, halving the deficit in the second half before Maidenhead United scored three to make it a 5-1 win.
Last Season…
Unlike their fortunes this season, Ascot finished in a respectable seventh in 2025/26, 16 points off Rovers in fourth.
The Gas did get the better of the Yellas in both meetings though, with Maisy Collis netting in the opening day victory at The Mem, and Chloe Bassett getting herself on the scoresheet for December’s return visit and second 1-0 win.
