Abingdon United vs Bristol Rovers | FA Women’s National League, The Northcourt, Sunday 11th October, 14:00 KO
Bristol Rovers Women return to FAWNL action this weekend and will be looking to secure their third successive victory in the league as they travel to take on Abingdon United.
Since their last league fixture, the Gas Girls have dropped into the FAWNL Plate after finishing third in Group B, but progressed to the first round proper of the FA Cup following Sunday’s 6-1 thumping of Corsham Town.
Libby Davies took the headlines in that game, putting a first-half hat-trick past her sister, Nia, with Ellie Preece also grabbing a brace before the break while Lilia Dempsey found a late sixth to overcome the early scare.
Now back on the road, Rovers will be looking to secure their fourth win in five across all competitions.

Opposition…
Abingdon currently sit in sixth place in the FAWNL table, and are one of four teams on nine points, including Gwalia United, Rovers, and Wycombe Wanderers.
Most recently, the Yellows sailed through to the next round of the FA Cup with a comfortable 5-0 win away to seventh-tier Tonbridge Angels. Erin Hartigan managed a hat-trick in that match, as Mollie Dyer and Molly Lygo tallied their fifth and third goals of the season respectively.
Before that, Abingdon suffered a 2-1 defeat on the road to MK Dons in the final group game of the FAWNL Cup to keep them rooted to the bottom of the table. Despite Dyer superbly lobbing the keeper from the edge of the box, the Yellows’ earlier 8-0 and 7-0 losses to Oxford United and Arsenal PGA left them winless in Group K.
Last in league action, Bridgwater United ran out 2-0 winners at home to Abingdon as they maintained their 100% record and place at the top of the South-West division.
It was a positive result against Maidenhead United the week prior, though. Lygo levelled the score after eight minutes, with her side then scoring four for no reply as Hartigan and Dyer both struck twice. Maidenhead did manage a late second, but it wasn’t enough to inspire a comeback as the Yellows held out for the 5-2 victory on the road.
Returning to The Northcourt for the first time in four weeks, Abingdon will aim to get back to winning ways in the league against Rovers, before hosting 12th-placed Ascot United on October 18.
Last Season…
Much like their current position, Abingdon finished the 2025/26 campaign in sixth, albeit with a -13 goal difference, putting them 14 points behind the Gas in fourth.
And it was Rovers who came out on top across the two meetings in the season, going unbeaten with one win and a draw.
When Abingdon visited The Memorial Stadium last September, Laura Barrett’s 78th-minute goal was enough to secure all three points for the hosts. In March’s return fixture, Kelly Highman opened the scoring before Libby Gilmore’s equaliser meant the spoils were shared in Oxfordshire.
