"After having the opportunity to train with the team last season, they all made me feel welcomed and really appreciated within the squad. For me, I also wanted the chance to continue to work with Kaine and George as I’ve already learnt so much from them. I knew that I really wanted to improve as a player and I would be fully supported and encouraged through that at the club.
Personally, this season for me is all about developing as a player in the women’s game. I had to do a lot of transitioning last season, coming from youth to women’s football and I feel comfortable now that I believe that I really have the chance to grow within my role, not just as a goalkeeper but my role within the team"
Manager Nathan Hallett-Young on Lucy Clay:
"Lucy will bring lots of energy to our team. Her role goes beyond just playing - she will provide enthusiasm, positivity, and a great atmosphere for the team and the goalkeepers during training. This will help us maintain a high level of competition across all three goalkeepers, and she will be available when we need her.
Lucy understands that she is young and will have her opportunities in the future. The best thing about her is her character - nothing fazes her, and she embraces her role of bringing a positive vibe to the team. She is a vibrant source of energy, ensuring that everyone has a happy environment to work in."
