Bristol Rovers is pleased to welcome Lee Tomlin to the men’s first team coaching staff.

Tomlin joins the Club as a first team coach and will assist Manager Steve Evans and fellow coach Byron Anthony in their duties at The Quarters Training Facility while assistant manager Paul Raynor undergoes bowel cancer treatment.

Previously assistant manager at National League side Morecambe, Tomlin’s playing career saw the former midfielder feature across the EFL for the likes of Peterborough, Middlesbrough, Cardiff, Nottingham Forest and others.

“It’s a pleasure to be here,” Tomlin said. “I’ve known the gaffer for 20 years and I know he’s a born winner. His record speaks for itself so for me to come in and be part of this group, it’s a real privilege.

“The gaffer knows what sort of character I am and the way I see football. I hope I can be another head, or opinion, for him to turn and talk with and work with to get the best out of this team.

“I’ve been watching out for Rovers games and keeping an eye on the results. I know Ian Hutton on the staff too so I’ve been asking him about training and how the sessions are, and now I’m in the building I can see for myself how high the standard is. The lads have been class, and I wouldn’t expect anything less from a Steve Evans team. Our job is to keep those standards as high as possible for as long as possible.”

Men’s First Team Manager Steve Evans said: “I’m delighted to welcome Lee to the team. I’ve taken great care in this appointment and interviewed several candidates, and Lee Tomlin came highly recommended by some very senior people in the game. Lee was one of the standout candidates for me and we’re happy to bring him in.

“He’s a young coach and he’ll add greatly to what we’re about, and one of the biggest things is he’s played for me and Paul Raynor, so knows already exactly what we’re looking for and what we bring too. He wants to learn and develop his own coaching career and get down to the hard work on the grass.”

Everyone at Bristol Rovers would like to welcome Lee to the Club and wishes him every success in his new role.
