Kilgour and Conteh reach Rovers appearance milestones

Alfie Kilgour and Kamil Conteh reached significant appearance milestones for Bristol Rovers against Colchester United in Sky Bet League Two on Saturday.

The pair started in the Gas' 1-1 draw with the U's, where Fabrizio Cavegn's first-half opener was cancelled out by Micah Mbick's close-range finish, with the duo being two of only three players to have played every minute of every league fixture for the Pirates this term.

Kilgour made his 100th league start for the Gas against Danny Cowley's men. The centre-back came through the Pirates Academy and made his debut for the Club against Gillingham in March 2019. He made 91 league appearances for Rovers before moving to Mansfield Town in January 2023, staying with the Stags before returning to the Gas this summer.

The centre-back was made Club captain by Head Coach Darrell Clarke before the start of the season, with his nine appearances in the fourth tier pushing him up to 100 league games for Rovers across his two spells.

As for Conteh, he made his 50th appearance for the Pirates in all competitions. The midfielder signed for the Gas from Grimsby Town on January 26 2024, and made his debut a day later in Rovers' 3-1 win over Oxford United.

Last season, the 22-year-old played 19 of Rovers' first 21 fixtures in the league before suffering a serious knee injury and developing a bone infection, forcing him to miss the rest of the campaign. However, Conteh is back to full fitness this term and has played a part in every fixture this season across all competitions.
