The Ammies started quickly, with Kelly N’mai shooting just off target from the left side of the box before Ryan Graydon broke the deadlock inside eight minutes, getting behind the Pirates' defence before slotting his effort low past Brad Young.
The 23-year-old shot-stopper then got down to stop Graydon getting his second soon after, with the forward getting free from his marker on the right side of the box before being denied at close range.
The Pirates struggled to create chances, with Isaac Hutchinson and Ellis Harrison having tame attempts claimed by Matty Young either side of half-time. Instead, Salford had opportunities to extend their lead, with Kallum Cesay seeing his attempt pushed away before Graydon headed over.
