The Pirates were looking to recover from their opening day defeat at The Memorial Stadium to Harrogate Town and started brightly, with Promise Omochere knocking a header just over the bar before the hosts gained the lead.
Clever play from the hosts unleashed Elliot Bonds down the right, who curled a low cross towards Will Davies to score. The striker was enjoying a bright start to the campaign after his goal against Barnet on his debut and scored again soon after, this time rushing through on goal before chipping his attempt over Luke Southwood.
The Gas dominated the second half chances, with Darrell Clarke making several attacking substitutions. Omochere was getting chances in and around the box and got one back for Rovers after he was brought down in the box by James Bolton, calmly slotting his shot down the middle of the goal. However, the Pirates could not find a leveller and fell to their second defeat of the campaign.
