The Pirates were looking to make it three straight wins at The Memorial Stadium. However, fell behind inside four minutes when Tom Naylor powered a close-range header beyond Brad Young after getting onto Luam Mandeville's cross.
Paul Cook's men dominated the early exchanges and could have been further ahead. Lee Bonis' effort was pushed away by Young before Dilan Markanday directed a stretched strike wide. The Gas remained in the contest and gained the lead with goals either side of half-time. Shaq Forde planted a downward header past Zach Hemming before a clinical finish put Rovers ahead.
Nevertheless, Chesterfield battled back again to take all three points. Naylor looped a header over Young before the visitors saved the best goal for last, with Matt Berry directing his strike across the goal and in to send the away fans wild.
