The Pirates were looking to win away at Stanley for the first time in their history, but fell behind within six minutes when Isaac Heath converted Shaun Whalley's cutback from the right.
The Gas looked to respond before the break, but Shaq Forde whipped a first-time strike over, and Alfie Chang saw his low drive cleared off the line before Kamil Conteh levelled the contest with a superb effort after the break.
Darrell Clarke's men had the momentum in the contest, but conceded twice in five minutes. Farrend Rawson scored to give Accrington the lead again before Isaac Sinclair doubled their advantage to secure all three points.
