Over 10,000 were in attendance and got a game worth their trip, with drama from beginning to end. It took only 15 seconds for the ball to hit the back of the net, with Harrison Biggins breaking the deadlock before Rovers hit back with three goals of their own courtesy of Ben Purrington and Fabrizio Cavegn, before Lee Jenkins directed the ball into his own net.
The battle continued after the hour mark, with the Exiles netting either side of a perfect finish from Bobby Kamwa to see the score move to 4-3 heading into the final moments. Newport pushed men forward searching for a leveller, but could not find one, with Cavegn netting again in the final seconds to secure an eighth straight home league win for the Pirates.
