Evans wins Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month for April

Steve Evans

Steve Evans has been crowned the Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month after guiding Bristol Rovers to five straight wins in April.

The Pirates opened the month with a 1-0 triumph over Fleetwood Town, with Joe Quigley getting onto Jack Sparkes' corner and flicking a header across the goal and in.

Rovers then beat Harrogate Town in a five-goal thriller away from home. The Gas came from behind twice, with Shaq Forde and Ellis Harrison levelling efforts from Ellis Taylor before Harrison struck the winner from the penalty spot.

The Pirates scored three again in their next outing against Crawley Town at The Mem, with Harrison breaking the deadlock before Mees Rijks got his first goal in the blue-and-white quarters. Louie Watson got one back for the Red Devils before Yusuf Akhamrich sealed the win in the final moments.

Promise Omochere and Akhamrich scored in Rovers' 2-1 triumph over Tranmere Rovers before leaving their biggest win until last. Up against rivals Cheltenham Town, Harrison headed in two goals in the first half before chipping Joe Day after the break to complete his hat-trick. Shaq Forde got the Gas' fourth goal and celebrated with Evans, who was in the Thatchers End alongside the Gasheads.

Evans won the award ahead of David Artell, Dean Brennan and Paul Cook and was presented with his award at The Quarters Training Facility.
