Evans Nominated For April Sky Bet League Two Manager Of The Month

Steve Evans

Steve Evans has been nominated for the April Sky Bet League Two Manager Of The Month Award.

The 63-year-old, who was also up for the March award, led the Pirates to five straight wins last month. The Pirates started with a 1-0 triumph over Fleetwood Town, where Joe Quigley netted the winner at The Memorial Stadium with a flicked header after getting on the end of Jack Sparkes' corner.

The Gas then showed their resilience to come out on the right side of a five-goal thriller against Harrogate Town. The Sulphurites twice led through goals from Ellis Taylor, but Shaq Forde and Ellis Harrison netted to level the score before Harrison struck the winner from the penalty spot.

Evans' men then beat Crawley Town 3-1 at The Mem, with Harrison, Mees Rijks and Yusuf Akhamrich scoring for the Pirates, who claimed an away triumph over Tranmere Rovers. Jayden Joseph cancelled out Promise Omochere's opener before Akhamrich helped the Gas to all three points with a fine finish into the bottom corner.

The Gas then concluded April with an emphatic victory over Cheltenham Town. Harrison netted headers at the start and end of the first half to give Rovers a two-goal advantage before he completed his hat-trick with a superb chip over Joe Day from just inside Cheltenham's half. Shaq Forde then scored from close range in the closing stages to conclude a fantastic victory.
