Bristol Rovers is delighted to confirm the signing of striker Callum Morton.
The 25-year-old attacker joins the Gas on a short-term deal, having most recently represented Sky Bet League One side Northampton Town on loan from Salford City.
Morton, who will wear the No39 shirt in the blue and white quarters, has played 109 times across Sky Bet League One and Two and gained promotion from the fourth tier with Northampton in the 2019/20 season, netting eight goals in 12 games, including in both the Play-Off Semi-Final and Final.
“I’m really delighted to get the deal done and join Bristol Rovers,” Morton said. “Obviously I’ve been in a bit of a difficult period for myself but, now the deal is all signed, I really want to hit the ground running.
“I think this is exactly what I’ve needed, the platform to go out there and show what I can do and be myself again. I want to use this deal to put myself in a good position going forward and help the Club out too.
“It’s a quick turnaround with the game on Saturday against Notts County and, for me, playing again has been a long time coming. It’s been a while since I’ve been involved in a game and I’m looking forward to getting myself back out there, pulling on this shirt and playing in front of the Bristol Rovers fans.”
Morton started his career in the Yeovil Town academy, earning a move to West Bromwich Albion one month after scoring a brace against the Baggies in an FA Youth Cup fixture.
The striker enjoyed his first taste of senior football in the 2018/19 season on loan at National League team Braintree Town, scoring five goals in 14 appearances, including a hat-trick against Barnet.
His impressive spell earned him a loan move to Northampton Town, where he made an immediate impact.
Morton scored five goals in nine matches to help the Cobblers gain a place in the Play-Offs, netting twice in the second leg of the semi-final against Cheltenham Town as Northampton came back from a 2-0 defeat in the first leg to win 3-2 on aggregate before scoring in a 4-0 victory over Exeter City in the final at Wembley.
The forward then had loan spells at Lincoln City, Fleetwood Town and Peterborough United before making a permanent move to Fleetwood from West Brom on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
Morton scored twice in 20 appearances for the Cod Army in Sky Bet League Two before signing for Salford in January 2023. He played 27 times across three seasons at the club and had loan spells at Forest Green Rovers and Northampton before departing at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.
Everyone at Bristol Rovers warmly welcomes Callum to The Memorial Stadium and wishes him every success in his time with the Club.
