Bristol Rovers is delighted to confirm the loan signing of winger Yusuf Akhamrich from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

The 20-year-old is the Gas' fifth addition of the January transfer window and will spend the second half of the 2025/26 season on loan with Steve Evans' Pirates.

Akhamrich, who has featured on the bench three times for Tottenham's senior squad this campaign, scored for Spurs' U21 side against Rovers in the 4-4 draw in the Vertu Trophy in August. He will wear the no10 shirt.

"I'm buzzing to be at Bristol Rovers," he said. "I can't wait to get started. I've met all of the boys, and I can't wait to get out there and start playing.

"The conversations with the gaffer have gone smoothly. He's a great guy, and he has a lovely style of play. I love what he thinks of me, and I can't wait to get playing under him.

"I want to help the team push higher up the table, play a lot of games and give the fans some good moments to remember for a long time."

Head Coach Steve Evans said: “Yusuf is a confident and exciting wide player who has impressed in the Tottenham U21s in the last few months, earning him his first call-ups to the senior squad.

"I first watched him last year, retained him in my notes for the future and I made my move last week to get him here, but we had to be patient for the loan to be ticked off by the manager at Spurs.

"He is a young lad with a lot of potential and has already shown at The Mem this season what he can offer. This loan move will give him the chance to test himself at a good level, playing against seasoned professionals, and I’m sure he will be eager to prove himself."

Born in London in 2005, Akhamrich has progressed through the academy ranks at Spurs and has impressed at every level. The winger netted 25 goals for their U16s outfit in the 2021/22 season.

The 20-year-old then helped the U17s and U18s claim the Premier League Cup double in his first year as a full-time scholar. Akhamrich featured for Spurs' U21s side for the first time towards the end of the 2023/24 term, with the Lilywhites lifting the Premier League 2 title.

After impressing at the academy level, he signed his first professional contract with the club in early 2024 and stepped up to the U21s level on a full-time basis in the 2024/25 season. Last term, he scored five goals in 20 appearances in the Premier League 2, netting an impressive hat-trick in a 6-1 triumph over Middlesbrough.

The Morocco U20 international has featured in Spurs' first-team squad three times this season, first appearing on the bench for their Champions League fixture against FC Copenhagen.

Akhamrich was also an unused substitute in their Premier League fixture against Manchester United in November and again in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund earlier this week.

Everyone at Bristol Rovers would like to welcome Yusuf to the Club and wish him well in his loan at the Gas.
