Bristol Rovers is pleased to confirm the signing of Keenan Gough on a season-long loan from Sky Bet Championship side Charlton Athletic.
The midfielder will spend the 2026/27 campaign with the Pirates and is the Club's tenth signing of the summer transfer window.
Gough is Charlton's U21s captain, featured three times for the Addicks last campaign and regularly appeared in Nathan Jones' squad.
"It feels really good to be here," he said. "The sun's out, and I'm feeling good. Steve Evans told me about what he wants to do with the club and where he wants to take it. So, I think it's exciting.
"I think it's a massive club. I realised how big it is for the league it's in and a massive fanbase too. So, I think it's going to be a really good challenge for me helping the club get promoted.
"When I'm in the middle of the field, I'm someone who breaks up play, someone who intercepts play and simplifies it. I love a duel, I love a battle, so I never back down from them. And then with the ball, I'd say I'm technically good, and I read the game and communicate well too.
"I'm excited to play at The Mem. I've heard people don't like playing there, so I'll definitely enjoy playing there."
Steve Evans said: "“Keenan is a young player I’ve tried to sign before and I’m delighted to have him with us. I’ve been speaking to Nathan Jones and Charlton since the end of the season about Keenan, and he had a number of options, but we’re happy to have him here with us.
“He’s a player I see mainly as a No6 in the middle of the park, and I think that’s where he’ll end up playing for the most of his career, but he’s also very comfortable playing at the back as well. We’ve signed a real good talent. He’s been involved in the Charlton first team and we’re looking forward to working with him."
Gough joined Charlton at U9s level and progressed through the academy ranks, helping his side win the U18s' Professional Development League Two South title in the 2022/23 campaign and was awarded the Pierre Bolangi Award.
The award is given to an U18s player who demonstrated Pierre's characteristics of resilience, leadership, optimism and compassion.
In June 2023, the midfielder, who can also operate in midfield, signed his first professional contract at the Addicks and won the PDL2 again, this time as captain.
Gough made his professional debut for Charlton against Cambridge United in the Carabao Cup on August 26 2025, and penned a new long-term contract in November.
In December, Gough made his Sky Bet Championship debut against Oxford, also featuring against Norwich City and Middlesbrough last term.
