Bristol Rovers is delighted to confirm the loan signing of Reiss Russell-Denny from Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur.

The 20-year-old is the Gas' eleventh addition of the summer transfer window and will spend the season with Steve Evans' Pirates in Sky Bet League Two.

Russell-Denny has featured regularly for Spurs U21s in the Premier League 2 after signing from Chelsea in February 2025, and has recently returned from the Lilywhites' first-team pre-season trip to Sydney.

The loan signing of Russell-Denny was secured ahead of the squad submission deadline for this weekend's fixture, and the midfielder is therefore eligible to feature in Saturday's Carabao Cup clash against Peterborough United.

"It's great, I'm so excited to be here," said Russell-Denny. "I just can't wait to get started and see the fans.

"My friend Yusuf Akhamrich obviously came here in January, and he had a really good time. I spoke with him and only heard good things, so it was a no-brainer.

"The Bristol Rovers fans seem amazing. I can't wait to see them. So yeah, just excited to get going."

First Team Manager Steve Evans said: “I tried to sign Reiss on loan back in January when we also brought in Yusuf Akhamrich, and they’re really good friends, but we couldn’t quite get it over the line. He stayed at Tottenham to develop further but I’ve been in contact with them all summer and we’ve got the opportunity now to bring him in.

“He’s a good, good signing for us. There was a lot of demand for his signature. I had the chance to meet with him before he went away on a pre-season tour with Tottenham and talk through his game, some of the matches he played in, and I think we can do some good work with him. He’s an exceptional talent and we’re fortunate that Spurs have trusted him with his care and development for the season.”

Born in Reading, Russell-Denny joined Chelsea's U8s and progressed through the ranks, featuring in the Blues' team that lifted the U18s Premeir League Cup in the 2021/22 campaign and the U18s Premier League's southern division in the 2023/24 season.

The midfielder then signed for Spurs in February 2025 and has featured 31 times in all competitions, netting six goals and providing two assists, captaining the side on several occasions. Last season, he featured against the Pirates in the EFL Trophy, providing two assists in a 4-4 draw at The Memorial Stadium before the Gas won on penalties.

Russell-Denny has also appeared on the international stage, playing for England U17s at the World Cup and also appearing for the Young Lions' U18s and U19s teams.

Everyone at Bristol Rovers would like to welcome Reiss to the Club and wish him well in his loan at the Gas.
