20.10.22 Match Preview - Rovers v Argyle

Back in league action this weekend!

Rovers face Plymouth Argyle this weekend in a highly-anticipated clash against the league leaders. In our last game, Rovers ran away 3-0 winners against Swindon Town in the Papa John's Trophy. The win secured Rovers' place in the knockout stages of the competition.

It was in the Papa John's Trophy when Rovers last played Plymouth. A 1-1 draw earlier this season saw the tie head to penalties, with Argyle winning in the shoot-out.

Opposition View

Argyle boss Steven Schumacher has said to pafc.co.uk that his side will head to The Mem on Saturday afternoon fully aware of 'how tough the game will be'.

“It was a good game when we played them in the Papa John's Trophy. It will be one we are ready for, hopefully.

“They’ve got firepower, some really good attacking players. They were 4-0 up at half-time last week. They’ve got experienced midfield players who have been around the block a little bit in [Paul] Coutts, [Jordan] Rossiter, Sam Finley: good players.

“And defensively they have looked quite solid of late, not conceding too many goals. They are well-balanced, I would say. We know how tough the game will be, but if we play the way we can play we will cause them a few problems as well. We’re top of the league, so we should go into it with confidence.”
