Striker joins Rovers until the end of the season
Rovers have today signed free agent Steven Gillespie on a short term contract.
The striker has signed a deal that will keep him at the Memorial Stadium until the end of the season.
The 28-year-old is well known to manager John Ward after working with him at both Colchester and Cheltenham.
Gillespie began his career as a trainee at Liverpool, before joining Bristol City in 2004.
From there he had a couple of loan spells at Cheltenham Town, before signing a permanent deal in 2006.
In the summer of 2008 he was sold to Colchester United for £400,000. He spent four years with Colchester, before joining Fleetwood in the summer of 2012.
Chairman Nick Higgs said: “We are delighted that Steven has joined the club to add some much needed competition up front.
“He is an experienced striker, with a good goal scoring record, which we hope he can replicate here.”
Interviews with John Ward and Steven Gillespie will follow.
