Bristol Rovers

The third one day international between England and Sri Lanka took place at Gloucestershire’s County Ground on Sunday.

Sri Lanka scored 249 for nine in their allotted 50 overs and England had made 16 for one in four overs before rain forced the match to be abandoned, much to the disappointment of the large crowd at The County Ground.

There were many Rovers flags in view all around the ground and, away from the action, there was an opportunity for Rovers Chairman Steve Hamer and Bristol Sport owner Steve Lansdown to meet up and discuss the start of the new football season, now only a matter of weeks away.

The two may well have spoken about new grounds, of course, with City’s revamped Ashton Gate scheduled to be opened for their first match of the season, and Rovers hoping for good news on their proposed new stadium at UWE.

Whatever they spoke about, it’s good to see the two Bristol clubs building bridges from the top!
