LEE BROWN COMMITS HIS FUTURE TO ROVERS

19 June 2014

Defender signs a new deal

Lee Brown has today put pen to paper and committed his future to Bristol Rovers.

The defender signed a new deal to keep him at the Memorial Stadium despite interest from a number of League clubs.

Manager Darrell Clarke said: “I am absolutely delighted that Lee has committed himself to Bristol Rovers.

“He has turned down interest from League clubs, and I am really pleased I could persuade him to stay.

“He was one of our more consistent players last season, and his assist rate and the creation of goals from his position was very important.

“He will be an integral part of the team for next season.”

Left back Lee began his career with Queens Park Rangers and graduated through the ranks at Loftus Road, earning his first professional contract in July 2008.

He made his first team debut on 24th April 2010, against Barnsley, at Oakwell.

During his time with QPR Lee also enjoyed loan spells with Salisbury City and Hayes & Yeading.

Lee made his Rovers league debut on the opening day of the 2011/12 season and scored his first goal for the club in the 4-1 defeat at Crawley on 3rd September 2011.

Chairman Nick Higgs said: “I am very pleased that Lee has decided to stay with the club. He was one of the bright sparks last year in a back four that was largely effective.

“Although we will be bringing in new faces, it is good to retain some stability at the club.”

An interview with Lee will be available on Gas Player and You Tube later today.
