BROGHAMMER SIGNS HIS CONTRACT

20 June 2013

Midfielder signs on for another year

Fabian Broghammer has today signed his one year contract extension.

The German midfielder joined Bristol Rovers last summer and has improved considerably during his first year in English football.

The 23-year-old scored three goals for Rovers last season in 38 appearances for the club.

Manager John Ward said: “"Fabian earned himself the opportunity of a new deal by making enough appearances last season.

"It is great news for us because I think Fabian really has a lot to offer us going forward.

"The demands are very different to those he would have faced at the level he was playing at in Germany, but he learned a lot very quickly and has certainly become a stronger player for the experience of last season.

"There is a bit of naivety about him because he is still learning, but I am excited when I think about the potential he has. It is now my job and that of my coaching staff to see if we can coax that out of him over the next 12 months.”

The winger played for Eintracht Frankfurt and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim before joining VFB Stuttgart in Germany's third league He then signed for his hometown team SV Darmsadt 98 who also play in the third league.

The move to Bristol came about because our then manager Mark McGhee has a friend in Germany from his time with Hamburg.

Chairman Nick Higgs said: “I am glad to see Fabian back, and I hope he can continue the progress he made with us last season.

“Fabian showed us what he was capable of last season, and we hope to see more of that over the next year.”

An interview with Fabian will be on Gas Player shortly.
