Swindon Town 1-2 Bristol Rovers
Attendance: 6,760 (414)Rovers came from a goal behind to snatch all three points against Swindon Town at the County Ground.
Lloyd Jones gave the Robins an early first half lead before Matty Taylor's penalty leveled things in the second half moments before a Raphael Rossi Branco gave Rovers the three points the performance deserved.
Darrell Clarke made four changes to the side that drew with Bradford City at the weekend recalling James Clarke, Ollie Clarke, Chris Lines and Rory Gaffney into the starting line-up at the expense of Peter Hartley, Hiram Boateng, Byron Moore and Ellis Harrison who all took spots on the substitutes bench.
Swindon started at a fast pace like in the previous fixture at the County Ground and fired an early warning shot as James Brophy's cross from the left hand side found Nathan Delfouneso who failed to connect well with his volley.
However it didn't take the home side long to take the lead as Lloyd Jones managed to get his head on a Sean Murray corner glancing his header past Kelle Roos.
The goal seemed to spark Rovers into action as they twice came close from corners before Chris Lines stung the palms of Lawrence Vigouroux with a lovely free kick from the Rovers left flank.
Rovers continued to attack as a training ground free kick found it's way to Chris Lines on the edge of the area but his effort was cleared off the line by Nathan Thompson.
Darrell Clarke's side began to assert their dominance on the fixture, really pinning the Robins inside their final third with Matty Taylor and Billy Bodin causing the Swidon defence all sorts of trouble.
However for all of their constant pressure and corners inside the first 45 minutes, Rovers still went into half time a goal behind.
Rovers started the second half well as Lee Brown was able to play a delightful ball into the path of Matty Taylor who tested Lawrence Vigouroux before Nathan Thompson calmly headed the ball back into the keepers hands.
With just over 30 minutes to go the game began to open up.
At one end of the field Jon Obika headed into the hands of Kelle Roos at close range before at the other end of the field Ollie Clarke looked to have beaten Lawrence Vigouroux with a powerful shot but it cannoned off the inside of the post before Rory Gaffney snatched at the follow up lashing it well wide.
Moments later, Darrell Clarke made a triple substitution bringing on Charlie Colkett, Ellis Harrison and Jermaine Easter for Stuart Sinclair, Billy Bodin and Rory Gaffney in an attempt to get something out of the game.
Despite all the Rovers possession in the second half, it was Swindon who had the first good chance as they capitalised on a slip from Ollie Clarke.
The slip allowed Nathan Thompson to advance into the Rovers third before disguising his pass well picking out substitute Luke Norris but Kelle Roos was off his line quickly to pounce on the ball at the strikers feet.
Rovers began to turn the screw with the final 15 minutes remaining and were awarded a penalty with just under 10 minutes to go as Raphael Rossi Branco fouled Jermaine Easter inside the penalty area giving referee Oliver Langford no chance but to point to the penalty spot. Matty Taylor stepped up to take the penalty and made no mistake lashing the ball into the left hand side of the goal for his seventh goal of the season.
In what was a unbelievable turnaround in such a short space of time, seconds later Rovers found themselves ahead.
Jermaine Easter was allowed time and space to attack the Robins back line before firing a low cross along the six-yard box only for Raphael Rossi Branco to turn the ball past a helpless Lawrence Vigouroux.
After such a crazy few minutes Darrell Clarke's side were able to see the game out to secure their second three points of the campaign.
Up next for Bristol Rovers is the visit of Port Vale to the Memorial Stadium before Darrell Clarke's men take on Sheffield United in a weeks time.
