Our matchday magazine, The Pirate, underwent a major overhaul in the summer and every league issue will consist of 84 pages.

We have had some very complimentary remarks about the changes we have made, and the aim now is to maintain our high standards for the rest of the season!

In the Port Vale issue manager Darrell Clarke pens his own notes and we carry interviews with Hiram Boateng and Stuart Sinclair.

The centre pages are given over to a poster of Chris Lines who made his 200th league start for the club, against Swindon Town, on Tuesday night.

If you can remember what was happening in the Rovers camp the last time we played a home match against The Valiants, then page 41 is written with you in mind. The match was played just over three years ago and we ran out 2-0 winners with Ryan Brunt scoring both goals.

Amazingly, it’s 20 years since we played our first game at The Memorial Stadium and that fact is celebrated by historian Leigh Edwards, who looks back at key moments for the club in the month of September over the course of those 20 years.

Stephen Byrne pens a regular feature on players who have appeared for us at The Mem in the last 20 years and who have the same surname as players from long ago. The Name’s The Same features Matty Taylor in this issue, along with Charles William Taylor, who played for the club between 1887 and 1894!

We also bring you news and views from our support organisations, namely The Supporters Club, Helpline, The Presidents Club and The Young Pirates.

Our Academy section brings you a profile of first year scholar, James Spruce, as well as brief biographies of all of our first year scholars, and an U-18 match report.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg! With 84 pages to get through, we believe there is something for everyone in this season’s programme and hope that as many of you as possible will purchase a copy on Saturday and for the rest of the season.
