Josh signed for the Gas in January of 2020, after making a number of appearances for his first club - Reading FC.

Barrett had not only impressed in his cameos for Reading FC, but also in his appearances for the Republic of Ireland youth side where he has progressed from under 17's up to the under 21's side.

Before he joined the Gas, Barrett had enjoyed a flurry of games at Reading before their change of manager, the highlight of which was against Plymouth Argyle. He stepped up in his side's Carabao Cup tie, scoring from a sharp angle in the first half before curling in a lovely finish from the edge of the box to secure a brace in the game.

He joined Rovers early in January of 2020, making his debut against Stevenage FC in the Leasing.com Trophy.
