Match Preview: Rovers v Scunthorpe United

8 March 2019

Rovers return to the road after three home games on the spin, to take on Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park thi Saturday afternoon.

Despite Tuesday night's Checkatrade Trophy semi-final disappointment, Graham Coughlan's men will be buoyed by their most recent SkyBet League One outing, as they romped to a resounding 4-0 victory over Blackpool last weekend at the Mem.

Rovers have every chance of building on that, with their unbeaten run away from BS7 stretching to six games.

Victory over the Iron on Saturday could lift Rovers as high as 17th and out of what is becoming a very congested danger zone.

Manager's View: Chris Hargreaves undertook the routine press duties before the team set off for the north.

Opposition View: The Iron are one of many sides in the division who, despite being several places above the relegation zone, are far from securing their League One status beyond 4th of May. Stuart McCall's side may be 16th in the table, but are just four points above Rovers in 21st and have also played a game more. They have picked up just one victory in their last five games; a 2-0 victory at home to Accrington Stanley on 9th of February. Their most recent outing saw them succumb to a disappointing 2-1 defeat away at Oxford United, who themselves are fighting for survival. Rovers can take encouragement from the fact that only one side in the league has a worst defensive record than the Iron this term, who have shipped 60 goals in 35 games.
