Match Preview: Bristol Rovers v Southend United

6 December 2019

All the pre-match info heading into Saturday's game at BS7.

Rovers return to league action on Saturday, hosting Southend at the Mem.

The Gas' last league outing was the 4-3 thriller at Shrewsbury, where goals from Tony Craig, Ollie Clarke, Liam Sercombe and Abs Ogogo secured the three points on the road in Shropshire.

Graham Coughlan's side sit in a healthy position in the league and could climb into the playoff spots with a positive result on Saturday, with the Gas' tally of 28 points seeing them hold a position in a pack of eight teams that are separated by only four points.

Coach's Preview: Kevin Maher met with the local press on Friday morning and spoke about his thoughts about coming up against his former club and the morale of the group heading into Saturday's game.

Player's Preview: Abs Ogogo gave his pre-match thoughts also on Friday, as the energetic midfielder discussed the positive mood in the dressing room as we approach a busy period of games.

Opposition: Southend have endured a turbulent start to the campaign, with their last win in the league coming back in September. The Shrimps currently stand in the relegation zone, having picked up six points so far this campaign. New boss Sol Campbell was bought in October to turn the fortunes, but the only win so far for the former Arsenal man has come in the EFL Trophy. In midweek, they drew 1-1 on the road at Burton, with Stephen McLaughlin on the scoresheet.

Need to Know Info: There will be a minute's silence prior to kick-off to remember Rovers legend, Stuart Taylor. We also ask supporters to join us in a minute's applause on the 72nd minute.
