Four members of Chris Hargreaves' Development Squad have today committed to extended contracts with the Club.
Michael Kelly, Mo Baghdadi, Ben Morgan and Lewis Leigh-Gilchrist all put pen to paper on extended contracts this afternoon, as the Development Squad begin preparations for next season.
The Development Squad enjoyed a successful first season, capturing the Central League South title and progressing to the later stages of the Central League Cup.
Another positive element for the Development Squad has been the inclusion of many members of Chris Hargreaves' squad in the first-team over the past campaign, with no fewer than seven players making appearances for the first team.
Michael Kelly and Mo Baghdadi both made their EFL debuts in recent weeks, while Lewis Leigh-Gilchrist has impressed during a number of loan spells. Defender Ben Morgan has been a constant feature for the Development Squad also this season.
Today's contract extensions build upon Luke Russe, Alexis Andre-Jr, Lewis Ison, Cameron Hargreaves and Rhys Kavanagh committing their future to Development Squad next season.
Speaking about the new deals for the quartet, Development Squad Manager Chris Hargreaves signalled he was pleased to set the wheels in motion for the next campaign, 'I'm pleased that we have been able to extend the current deals for these players.”
“We are starting to put the foundations in place for next season and to be able to build on what we have achieved this season.”
“All the players have shown great dedication to the cause this season. As it was our first season as a group, the players have been able to come together as a real unit.”
“A number of individuals have made their first-team debuts and of course, we will strive to increase that number as we progress forward.”
