Walk a mile in our shoes
It's that time of year again when the British public will be asked to get active and raise cash in order to change lives...yes, it's Sport Relief time!We have joined forces with Ashley Down Primary School to do our bit to help raise some money.
On Friday 18th March all of the school’s staff and its 360 pupils will be walking a sponsored mile around The Memorial Stadium pitch, kicking off at 1.30pm.
Adam Tutton, Head of Education at Bristol Rovers said; “Our work with local schools and the local community is at the heart of our football club. Giving local children the opportunity to walk around the stadium and meet their heroes will be a very special occasion as well as helping raise funds for a very worthwhile cause”.
Training and Business commitments permitting, the school will be joined by members of the Bristol Rovers Squad and senior members of staff, including Chairman Steve Hamer.
The Ashley Down pupils have been asked to dress up either as Sport Star, Sport person or a Pirate to support the Bristol Rovers theme of the day.
We hope to attract a large number of spectators to this event and proceedings can be watched from the Dribuild Stand, where refreshments will be available.
Steve Lewis, Head of PE at the school said; “Ashley Down Primary Federation have always worked closely with the Bristol Rovers Community Trust and both organisations have teamed up for this very important cause by organising what we hope will be a memorable afternoon at the Memorial Stadium. Everyone at Ashley Down is looking forward to the event, especially meeting up with some of the Bristol Rovers First team squad”.
A bucket collection will be made for the cause and will be donated to Sport Relief (an initiative of Comic Relief) and if you would like to see how their money is spent then please check out sportrelief.com/schools
Ashley Down Primary School will also use the day as a teaching opportunity for students to learn about the issues children across the world face, and how the money raised can help them.
We do hope that you will be able to join us for an hour on 18th March to help us help the school raise as much money as they can for Sport Relief.
See you there!
