ROVERS YOUTH MAINTAIN WINNING RUN

14 March 2015

Bristol Rovers 1-0 Dagenham & Redbridge

Thursday 12th March 2015

A solitary goal from Blake Davies enabled our U-18 side to beat Dagenham & Redbridge on Thursday to maintain their 100% record in their Merit League Two fixtures.

The game was played at Golden Hill and conditions were far from ideal; “A very strong wind made it difficult for both sides” said Youth team Manager Alan Walsh.

“Having said that we adapted very well in the first half and played some good football and limited Dagenham to very few chances. In fact, they didn’t have a shot on target in that opening 45 minutes.”

The only goal of the game arrived on 15 minutes.

“After a break down the right the ball was played in to Blake Davies on the edge of the area and he beat the keeper with a left foot shot.

“I think it was no more than we deserved, and we might have increased our lead before the break, but it was a different story in the second half.

“We were playing against the wind and Dagenham played a lot better and put us under a little bit of pressure. Goalkeeper Cameron Clarke made one outstanding save midway through the second half and our visitors also hit the crossbar.

“If I’m honest, I don’t recall us creating any chances in the second period but credit to the lads for battling through and recording another win.”
