During the 1994-95 football season, Ken Ferris, a journalist from Essex, watched a match at all 92 Premier and Football League grounds in England.

Starting at Carlisle United in September and finishing at Everton in May, it took Ken a total of 237 days to watch a match at each of the 92 grounds across the country.

In doing so, Ken set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest time to watch a match at each league ground.

Over twenty years later, Des Hinks, a Stockport County fan from Cheshire, is currently scouring over fixture lists and train timetables in an attempt to break the record this season, which has stood for over two decades.

During the eight-month challenge, Des will also be raising money for the Depression Alliance charity.

The world record attempt starts on Saturday 8 August when Des will visit the Memorial Stadium for Rovers’ first game of the new season against Northampton Town.

Speaking to bristolrovers.co.uk, Des said: “With a list of 92 options for the first game I really wasn’t sure where to start the challenge, but then I thought it would be nice to visit one of the two clubs promoted from the Conference last season.

“As a Stockport fan who’s watched his team get turned over at numerous non-league outposts across the country, I know it’s not easy getting back into the Football League so it’s a fantastic achievement for Rovers to do it at the first attempt.

“I’m looking forward to starting my challenge with a few beers on a sunny afternoon in Bristol amongst the atmosphere of Rovers fans enjoying their return to the League.”
