In our loan round-up we will take a look at the fortunes of Rovers players out on loan.
Currently we have one player out on loan, Jamie Lucas who made his debut for National League newcomers Boreham Wood on Saturday.
Boreham Wood Football Club celebrated its 65th Anniversary in the 2012/13 season, having been formed in 1948 following the amalgamation of Boreham Rovers and Royal Retournez.
2014/15 was undoubtedly the most successful season in the clubs 67 year history, after leading the Conference South league for the majority of the season they finally finished second to eventual champions Bromley and took their place in the playoffs.
After beating Havant and Waterlooville 2-0 away and drawing 2-2 at home in the two legged semi final, the Wood faced a talented Whitehawk side at our home of Meadow park in front of a partisan 2,200 crowd.
A Lee Angol set piece put Wood ahead before a Whitehawk penalty leveled proceedings. However a Junior Morias winner in extra time sent the club into raptures and put them into the new National league for the very first time.
Manager Ian Allinson added Lucas to his ranks on Friday and the young Rovers front-man made his debut against FC Halifax Town in the clubs season opener.
A competitive start to the game saw Wood enjoying good spells of possession before Lucas, who spent most of last season on loan at Weston-super-Mare ignited the tie with a quite superb individual goal after 61 minutes.
Halifax’s Bencherif made a hash of his backpass and was caught out by the speed of the 19-year-old who seized possession, took the ball onto his left foot and glided past a challenge from Brown before steering a superb shot wide of the despairing Glennon.
Lucas was replaced by Harry Crawford with 18 minutes remaining and the Wood wrapped up all three points on their National League debut with a 3-1 win.
Reflecting on the win and Lucas, the Boreham Wood manager said "Jamie Lucas has had an excellent pre season scoring six goals for Bristol Rovers. He is just 19 years old and could have a fine career in front of him."
