Manager looks back on today's 0-1 victory
Rovers boss Darrell Clarke was very happy in the way that his team picked up all three points this afternoon. The manager said "It was a very hard fought performance and Southport asked us a lot of questions being a big physical side.
"The performance may not have been as good as what we might like, but we've come here and kept a clean sheet and left here with all three points.
"You are going to have to grind out results in this league and that is exactly what we have done today.
"I thought our back line defended superbly.
"They came here off the back of three defeats and they were really at it, but we dealt with a lot of the questions they had for us."
Speaking about Jake Gosling's goal that secured Rovers all three points Darrell said "It was a cracking finish, he has a brilliant left foot.
"That's a couple of goals for him now and we need him to keep producing with his left foot like that.
When asked about Rovers now occupying fourth position in the Vanarama Conference Darrell insists that the club need to take each game at a time.
"We have to just win our games and the table will take care of itself.
"Today was a big three points for us and it is two away wins in a row which is important.
Up next for Rovers is a trip to Ten Acres on Tuesday night to take on Eastleigh and the manager insists it will be another tough game.
"The lads will have a cool down tomorrow and will be back in Monday to prepare for Eastleigh.
"There home form is tremendous and they have some really good players but it is much better going there off the back of three points this afternoon.
