DARRELL - WE HAVE TO PICK UP OUR AWAY FORM

11 September 2014

Manager on Saturday's trip to Lincoln

Darrell Clarke is looking for his team to improve their away form, starting this weekend with a trip to Lincoln.

The manager said: “We have got ten points out of our last five games, which is averaging two points per game, so we try and build on that in the next block of games.

“We have to pick our away form up and we will try and start that on Saturday. We have been disappointing on the road, but it is early days yet.

“Lincoln will be another difficult test, they have started the season pretty solidly and they are an ex-league club.

“I look at the reports we have had on Lincoln and see which is the best way to go about it.”

Darrell is also hoping to see a bit more consistency from his side over the next few games.

He said: “We are adapting to the situation we find ourselves in and we have to keep improving.

“I think I have a talented squad of players that are more than a match for anyone in this division, and we want to get some consistency into our performances.

“The first quarter of the season is about learning and making sure we improve throughout the season.

“The consistent teams get in the top five. If we can target ten or above points in the next five games, we could be in the play offs spots.”

The manager firmly believes that goals will come for his side. He said: “Goals were a problem last season.

“Over the first eight games of this season we have created a lot of chances and I believe the goals will come.

“We have to keep believing and stay mentally strong. It would be more of a concern if we were not creating chances.”

Ellis Harrison will be back from international duty this weekend, and Mark McChrystal is fit and available for selection.

Darrell said: “There are one or two niggles after Tuesday night, but nothing too serious. There are always decisions to be made, and that is what I am paid to do.

“Other than at Braintree, the last five games we have been pretty solid at the back, so I haven’t seen any need to change it, but we will see what Saturday brings.

“We have a couple of call ups for the England C training squad next weekend, which is great for the club, I am really pleased.”
