DARRELL POST WREXHAM

3 December 2014

Wrexham and Bristol Rovers played out a goalless draw last night at the Racecourse Ground in a game that Darrell Clarke branded incredible.

“It was an unbelievable game, I’ve still got to pick the bones out of it.

“I will hold my hands up, I didn’t have a sub keeper on the bench but Mark McChrystal has come in and done a fantastic job.

“I’ve done it a lot of times without having another keeper on the bench and I think it is going to be something I’m going to have to look at.

“It was a strange game, they went down to 10 men and we had a few good chances in the second half, but you are always going to be a little bit cautious when you’ve got an outfield player in goal.

Although spending over 50 minutes with Mark McChrystal in goal, the Rovers boss was still slightly annoyed that his side didn’t take more than a point from the game.

“I’ve had a little bit of a pop because at times we didn’t pass the ball as well as I know we can.

“We still had a few break away’s and Alex [Wall] has hit the crossbar with a free kick.

“It was always going to be difficult because we didn’t want to commit because of having an outfield player in goal.

“We had chances to win the game and McChrystal didn’t really have much to do at the other end.

Rovers saw Steve Mildenhall leave the pitch in severe discomfort following a clash with Andy Bishop in the first half but Darrell said “It is too early to say really, early diagnosis is it’s his medial ligament in his knee so maybe 2 or 3 weeks but we will wait and see.

“I will have a look at bringing someone in because Kieran is a young lad who isn’t quite ready really, he is progressing well but I don’t think he is ready to be thrown in at the deep end.
