The managers post match thoughts!
Bristol Rovers definitely stepped their game up in the second half of their 4-0 defeat of Macclesfield at the Memorial Stadium with the Rovers boss being very happy with his sides performance, Darrell said “I thought in the second half we really raised our game and played a lot better.“I had a little bit of a pop at the boys at half time even though we were 1-0 up because I thought we had another gear
“Playing 2 games in 3 days is difficult for the lads and is hard on their legs but I thought we were pretty clinical in the second half which was pleasing.
The home side scored four goals for the first time in the league this season and Darrell is happy that the team’s hard work is paying off in front of goal.
“It is nice that some of these chances are being put away now because we’ve been working hard at our play.
“Earlier on in the season we were still making these chances but it is good that they are now going in.
“We got the first one from a set piece which all helps and the others today definitely help the goals for column.
Although Rovers scored four goals the team also kept their 11th clean sheet of the season with Darrell really impressed with how his side defended as a whole.
“The whole team was solid today, Puddy has come back in and kept a clean sheet and distributed it well.
“Mark McChrystal, Tom Parkes and Tom Lockyer have been rocks at the back and Daniel Leadbitter who has been in and out has had a very good game as well.
“We’ve been solid defensively for a majority of the season and it is nice to get another clean sheet
“It is a good three points today with some results going our way but we won’t be getting carried away and we move onto the next game now.
